NEW CAREER OPPORTUNITIES AT PRESTONWALL (Lakeland Climbing Centre Limited)

PrestonWall, LancasterWall and KendalWall are facilities of The Lakeland Climbing Centre Limited. We are driven by our passion for climbing and the positive effects it can bring to everyone’s lives. Our northern facilities set a high standard for accessible, clean and constantly evolving indoor climbing. In partnership with our customers, staff, sponsors, and suppliers we have created and continue to develop friendly, efficient and safety conscious centres of excellence for roped climbing and bouldering that everyone can enjoy. The company also has seven centres operating in London that are part of our mission to get more people climbing.

Introducing PrestonWall:

Originally opened in 1987 by Diana Princess of Wales, the West View Climbing Centre has a rich and elaborate history. With strong roots in youth development having hosted the Youth Climbing Festival, British Youth Climbing Series, Under 14s Preston School Climbing Competition and thousands of schools and community groups over it’s 33 year history. Working alongside GLL, the rebranded PrestonWall will bring about a new era of climbing in the Lancashire area, with our focus on making climbing inclusive for all. LCC’s investment into the wall will see a brand new 500 sqm bouldering area, brand new lead climbing wall and further refurbishment works to the rest of the centre and equipment to make PrestonWall a safe and vibrant space for all to enjoy.

Duty Manager Vacancies

2 x Part Time Duty Manager – 25-30 hours

Climbing Wall Assistant Vacancies

3 x Part Time Climbing Wall Assistant  – 20-25 hours

Each member of the LCC team has a primary site where they work the majority of their shifts. There may be occasional shifts at other sites as required.

** For the right applicant there is the potential of combining two part-time vacancies into a full-time role. Please indicate on your application form if you would like to discuss this option at interview. As part of our ongoing covid measures, the team are currently restricted to working at their primary site only. Once measures can be relaxed there is more opportunity for multi-site work. 

THE ROLES

Duty Manager (Ropes)

As part of a small multifunctional team the role of Duty Manager is central to the effective running of the Centre. You will be responsible for the provision of a safe, fun, and welcoming climbing environment. When on duty you will directly manage the day-to-day operations including the reception, instruction, and retail, with additional responsibilities including cleaning and administrative tasks? There is potential to be involved in both the instruction and route setting program as time and manager responsibilities allow for.

Climbing Wall Assistant

Working with the Duty Manager to provide a safe, fun, and welcoming climbing environment. You are expected to provide an exceptional level of customer service in all centre operations. Additional to reception, tasks will include cleaning and administration. As your experience develops, there may also be the opportunity to train in route setting and instruction.

No prior climbing wall experience required; however, you must have a keen interest in climbing and developing on the job.

CURRENT RATES OF PAY:

Climbing Wall Assistant – National Minimum Wage

Duty Manager – from £9.20 – dependent on experience

PrestonWall positions start 12th July (initial training will be at KendalWall)
